News From Florida Unplugged
Top campgrounds, Uncrowded Daytona Beach, North Florida Getaway
Hi friends,
In October I spent a week camping in North Florida. The weather was still hot, but the nights were cooler. I visited (sorta) five State Parks. Because of the government shutdown I had to cancel my trip to Fort Pickens at the Gulf Island National Seashore, Pensacola. That’ll have to wait for a time when the politicians get their act together.

We’re are into Florida’s camping season so I have put together a Top 10 list of the best Florida campgrounds. All but one are State Parks, but that one is just the best ever. Check out the list and start making your travel plans. Florida campgrounds book up quickly so make your plans well ahead of time.

The fall is also a great time to getaway to Florida beaches. No crowds, no traffic, lower hotel rates. I spent a couple days in Daytona Beach. Compared to the high seasons in the summer and winter, it was almost a ghost town. See my list often things to do in “The World’s Most Famous Beach”.
